Experts have warned that statins and blood pressure medications cause obesity

Experts have warned that statins and blood pressure medications are   potentially causing obesity as some patients stop trying to lose weight due to the better performance of these medicines.

About 8 million Britons use statins to lower cholesterol and about 9 million Britons are on medication to lower blood pressure.

But according to research published in The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology, pills taken to prevent heart attacks and stroke can divert people's attention from losing weight.
That is, life-enhancing statins and blood pressure medications increase life with obesity because these drugs have the potential for obesity-related diseases, including heart failure, liver fat accumulation and arthritis.

Naveed Sattar, lead author of the study from the University of Glasgow, said that treatments such as statins and blood pressure pills are indirectly causing obesity.

He said that it is very successful to keep someone alive for a long time, that is, someone who can die from paralysis or heart attack at the age of 60 is alive to the age of 75. But if weight is not talked about, then the person can suffer from many health problems, which are partly related to obesity and for this he may have to take dozens of different medicines.
