Instead, the FAA allows the in-flight use of wireless devices but only after the airline has determined that the device will not interfere with aircraft communication or navigation1.2
- Starting from June 30, 2023, the European Union will allow phone calls on planes345.6
- The European Commission has ruled that airlines provide 5G frequency bands and slower mobile data on their aircraft, and all members of the EU must make the necessary adjustments before the June 30th deadline35.6
- Passengers flying within the European Union will soon be able to call, text, and use mobile data on flights, possibly making airplane mode a thing of the past4.6
